  15. What you're reading right now is a "help screen". These help screens contain most of the information you will need to operate QmGate. #
  16. Many help screens have highlighted items that will take you to another, related help screen. To access these items with the keyboard, press the Tab key to move from item to item (try it now). With the mouse, double click on the item. Here are some additional help items to get you started:

  47. The Packers dialog allows you to choose what method of compression to use when creating QWK/REP packets. g
  48. The default is to use the internal ZIP/UNZIP routines.  These are compatible with PKZIP version 1.10. 
  49. If you wish to use another type of compression, you can enter the command lines in the De-compress and Compress fields.  Then uncheck the Internal checkbox. k
  50. The default entries for De-compress and Compress are for PKZIP and will work with the new 2.04x releases. 
  51. The Available Forums list is the downloaded Index from CompuServe.  From this list, you can select a Forum entry to be scanned for mail. }
  52. If you already have forums selected, they will appear in the list preceeded by the "*" character and cannot be added twice. 
  53. Note:  this Index contains entries that are not really forums.  You should only select entries that have the word FORUM in their description. 
  54. The FORUM TITLE and GO COMMAND are taken from the list of forums available and placed here.  If you select the <<CUSTOM>> forum from the Add box, you should edit these two fields giving a descriptive name to the Forum Title, and a valid GO command. 
  55. The PREFIX field defaults to CIS.  This should not be changed unless you know the prefix for the forum is not in the CIS "home" system.  I.E. Some ZiffNet conferences should have a prefix of ZNT to tell QmGate how to navigate over to the ZiffNet "home" system. 
  56. The YOUR NAME IN FORUM field is where you enter the name you want to use while using this forum.  It is recommended you enter your real first and last name here.  If you change this field, the next pass will make the change in the Forum. 
  57. The DAYS TO KEEP field tells QmGate how many days old the messages can be before it is purged during the Merge phase of capturing forum mail.  A value of 0 (zero) means that all forum mail will be kept in the CISFORUM.QWK packet. 6

The NEW HIGH MSG field allows you to change the current High Message pointer for the Forum.  The default is blank and means not to change the current value.  To reset to the High message in the Forum, enter the word HIGH.  The current High message pointer is always displayed to the right of the reset field. 
  59. The PERSONAL field checkbox marked "Receive personal mail only" tells QmGate to only retrieve messages addressed to your CIS account. F
  60. To edit the Forum Sections to scan, press the [Section Edit] button. 
  61. The RESCAN checkbox allows you to scan the available section titles in case new sections are made available. When you first Add a new forum, this box will be checked for you automatically.  As QmGate initializes the forum, it will scan the available sections and place the names in the two columns below labeled SELECTED 0..9 and SELECTED 10..19.

The SELECTED columns are the lists of available sections for a given forum.  After the rescan is done, some of the boxes will be followed by valid section names you can scan. To enable scanning a section, check the box in front of the section name.  QmGate will only gather new messages in the boxes that are checked.  Should you wish to temporarily suspend scanning a forum, just uncheck all selected sections. 
  63. The CompuServe Forum Setup dialog is where you manage your selected forums.  You can Add new forums, Delete or Edit forums you have already selected. 
  64. You can also request a new Master Forum List by checking the RESCAN checkbox at the bottom.  This will instruct QmGate to download a new Forum List from CIS.
